Description of clinic
Newly built facility established within historic railway workshop. The GP Super Clinic is located opposite the proposed Midland Hospital and is close to rail and public transport. Ample parking on site and disabled facilities are available.
The clinic opened on 6 July 2012.

Services
Multidisciplinary care
The clinic is currently working towards providing a wide range of multidisciplinary, integrated primary care services from professionals including GPs, nurses and allied health professionals. The clinic provides pharmacy and physiotherapy services from collocated practices. A podiatrist commenced services in early 2013.
The clinic has an extensive Chronic Disease wing which will house a variety of allied health professionals in addition to GPs including a dietitian, diabetes educator, asthma educator, podiatrist, dentist and psychologist.
The clinic anticipates that medical specialists including a general physician, surgeon, psychiatrist and pediatrician also will co-locate and /or provide sessional services on site.
Preventative services
New patients undergo a comprehensive health check-up on their first visit to the clinic, conducted by the doctor and nurse during which chronic conditions are identified and age appropriate screening recommendations are made.
The clinic also offers community based health promotional and disease prevention education, and education regarding access to any existing community services including services through the Medicare Local and Area Health Authority.

Health needs and priorities
The Midland/Swan area has a relatively large Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population. Targeted services will be provided through the colocated Aboriginal Medical service and collocated State Government services and other services at the clinic.
The presence of multi-lingual staff at the clinic has attracted patients from a variety of non-English backgrounds.
The Midland/Swan area has fewer GPs per population than average and more Emergency Department attendances. Two full-time GPs from outside the Midland area are now working at the clinic. The clinic contracted four (4) GPs from the UK to commence at the clinic in May, July and November 2013.
Quality
The clinic is accredited against the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners standards for general practices with AGPAL/GPA.
The clinic operates a computerised recall and reminder system and a Practice Policy and Procedure Manual is in place based upon RACGP Accreditation standards.

Operating hours
Monday - Friday: 8am - 6pm with hours to increase with demand.
Billing arrangements
Bulk billing for all General Practice services. Pathology, radiology and allied health will be strongly encouraged to bulk bill Chronic Disease Management services.
Home visits and visits to residential aged care facilities
Home visits are not provided at this time.
Clinical training arrangements
The clinic is working with WAGPET to gain accreditation as a GP training location. It is anticipated that GP Registrars will be able to work at the clinic in 2013.
The clinic has specific training consulting rooms that allow health practitioner trainees to have direct access to their supervisors via internal doors.
The clinic is currently in discussion with a number of Educational Institutions that are looking to co-locate facilities at the clinic site and to lead academia and research. Top of page
